Subject: Internal server error - 500

Hi Seth,

Thanks for making this script available to all. I am having a problem getting it to work.

I get a internal server error (500)
According to my hosting company my cgi scripts need to reside in the cgi-local folder and not the cgi-bin.

i have tried placing the files in both folders with no luck. When the cgi script is placed in the cgi/bin. I get the page not found error (404) I had them check the permissions as well. All seems correct.

Any help would be appreciated.

the form is at: www.plazacollege.edu/InfoRequestNew.html

bizmail.cgi is at: www.plazacollege.edu/cgi-local/bizmail.cgi

Thanks,

Dean

Well firstly, upload the scripts to the: cgi-local folder is fine if that is what acts as your cgi-bin. So there it looks like everything is fine.

However it looks as if one of a couple things are wrong:

1. did your remember the \ before the @ sign when configuring the send to and cc to email address.

2. is the path to perl correct at the top of bizmail.cgi OR bizmail.pl

3. Did you upload the MIME folder to the cgi-bin OR IN YOUR CASE cgi-local and chmod the MIME folder and Lite.pm which is located in this folder to 777.

These are the first basics, also have you changed the script in anyway other than what you are supposed to configure. Make sure you did not acidently delete any code.

Also if you are on windows server, you will need to download and configure the windows version of the script.

I checked the email addresses - all are correct.
the path to perl is as per the hosting company. I will check again.
the MIME folder & Lite.pm are uploaded and CHMODed to 777

I don't think I deleted anything but I will redo the script and post it again anyway.

I am on a FreeBSD server.

thanks for the pointers.

You may want to try using the WINDOWS VERSION of the script. I have seen that sometimes certain features don't work in FreeBSD, so this may be your best bet.

Installed the windows version.

When I post submit the form without entering data, it redirects me to the error page correctly but when I submit the form containg data I get the following error:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@plazacollege.edu and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I have checked the email addresses and all have the / before the @ sign.

Yeah, Actualy the problem that you ran into with the windows version was your it does not look like your host uses SMTP.

actually my exchange server is configured to collect mail from smtp.plazacollege.edu.

Most likely I mistyped or deleted something in your script.

Question: Can your script be editied to send Blind Carbon Copies of the email (Bcc_to)? It would be a great feature to have.

No, this script does not Blind Carbon Copy results. It posibly may be a feature for the future, but not sure. I realy have never been asked to add this feature. However I may add it with the new module I will be creating for email form results to your email.
