Hi Seth,

You can test.
http://www.travel-cambodia.com/booking-bizmail3.0/contact-us.html

The auto message sent the poster email works very good. But the customed results sent to my email does not have the format I make on file custom_html.mess.

I use the same tags and variables on custom_html.com as I used on html.mes.

This are the tags and variables I used on html form.
<input type="hidden" name="custom_message_format" value="html">
<input type="hidden" name="html_custom_mesfile" value="1">

Please give me idear why it does not print as nicely as the results sent to poster. Please use the fomm above and post. You will receive perfect results.

This is the typical formated results sent to my email:

ipaddress : 24.70.95.203
date : Jan 28, 07
firstname : Peu Chan
lastname : Sambo
email : peuv@hotmail.com
comment : test only, test only.

Thank you Seth,

I keep coming back to check the message board everyday just in case you respond.

This is the actual results sent to my email. I tested the posting myself.
---------

The following information was submitted by {firstname}{lastname}.
First Name: {firstname}
Last Name: {lastname}
E-mail: {email}
Comment: {comment}
----- this is your sample variables---
ipaddress : 24.70.95.203
date : Jan 31, 07
timestamp : 00:57 AM
firstname : Peu Chan
lastname : Sambo
email : peuv@hotmail.com
comment : test only. thanks.

------- I used another variables on the same form to test --------
First Name:
Last Name:
First Name: {firstname}
Last Name: {lastname}
-----------------------
The variable <%firstname%> and <%lastname%> do not show up at all. This variable {firstname} shows up but not the name of the poster. You can see I tried many variables to test and figure out. I think now I have to ask you for help.

Again, thank you for the response.

I did used this tag{firstname} and this <%firstname%> to test if any works on file custom_html.mes. None of the tags work. I even read between the lines your read me on the web that suggest use {xxxx}. I am concerned that your scripts may still have a couple of problems just as the problem you just fixed on html.mes after I asked you in the previous email.

Below is the message I just received when you posted on the contact form:

I used the tags on this custom_html.mes

If you have some advice, please post it here. I will come back to check.

This is the same problem I am having, though I am using custom_plainl.mes. The auto-reply to the person that submits the form looks great. However, the custom reply I receive includes a blank space if I use the default <%firstname%> format. If I use the {firstname} format, then {firstname} is printed - the contents of the field with name "firstname" is not swapped in. Any luck figuring out how to fix this?

Hi Sara,

I think this version 3.0 cannot function completely yet until some problems are to be fixed by Seth. I spent not hours but days figuring out just this one last problem. I gave up and I am sure the scripts have some problems. I suggest you post the messages and request Seth to take a look. Don't try to fix because only the author knows how to solve the problem unless you are a super expert in CGI.

Ok, I am sorry. I mis read your message on what you are trying to do.

html.mes and custom_html.mes are to different features. I thought you where talking about the auto reply message.

html.mes as the default file refers to the AUTO REPLY MESSAGE, and uses {} for personalization.

custom_html.mes as the default file refers to the CUSTOM RESULTS EMAIL MESSAGE FILE, and uses <% for personalization.

You have to understand these are two different functions and have seperate readme section associated with both.

Regards,

Seth

I think I may have found your issue however. Are you sending this email as an auto repsponse? Because as I have stated previously, the auto response email is completely different than the custom results email. You can not mix and match the readmes for these two seperate features.

Hi Seth,

I am talking about the result I received from the poster who fill out the form. The auto result sent automatically to the poster (you) is perfect as you can see above.

The problem I am having is the Customized result using custom_html.mes ( sent to me from the poster who fill out the form).

This is the result that was sent to me from you who filled out my form today:
----------------
The following information was submitted by {firstname}{lastname}.
First Name: {firstname} ( you see name TEST above does not show up)
Last Name: {lastname}
E-mail: {email}
Comment: {comment}
ipaddress : 74.229.194.209
date : Feb 22, 07
timestamp : 06:53 PM
firstname : test
lastname : test
email : mikeknorrbiz@yahoo.com
comment : test
countdown : 246

First Name: ( this information does not show. I have <%firstname%>
Last Name: information does not show
First Name: {firstname}
Last Name: {lastname}

--------------------

I use this file custom_html.mes to send information to me. See the scripts above in the previous email.

I appreciate that you response. I used tow different types of scripts to see which one works but none works: {xxx} and <%xxxx>

Thank you.

This was a problem with certain servers. It should now be fixed. Re-download the zip file, and re-upload the custom_email.cgi script to the same directory in which it is in now.

And you will be all set.

Regards,

Seth
